Creative Professional Aerial Dance Tuition in Leeds

Urban Angels Circus offer tuition in Aerial Hoop, Solo and Doubles Trapeze, and Silks on a regular basis. They also teach more unusual aerial skills such as Spanish Web, Aerial Net, Bungees and Harness Work as weekend workshops.

Why Urban Angels Circus Classes?

Because they are:

  • Fun and challenging
  • Taught by a highly experienced, qualified teacher
  • The skills are taught in a creative way with students encouraged to link together moves into compelling routines
  • A performance background enables the tutor to support students to make pieces that reflect their imagination.
  • Students are encouraged to perform to a live audience

The classes improve your posture, flexibility, strength and well-being. But that doesn’t really explain why Urban Angels Circus classes are so different. There is a synergy about the group dynamic which makes them very special. Yes, of course you will gain skills, push yourself and achieve postures that you never thought possible and achieve things you thought you could only dream of.

‘Aerial class was amazing yesterday, felt so much more confident and learnt some new moves, massive thank you to Deborah, who is a brilliant teacher!!’

‘That Deborah Sanderson is bloody brilliant!’

‘I just wanted to say thank you for all your work, patience and encouragement and generally sunny disposition during trapeze class and outside of class as well. I had a fantastic time (despite my moaning about pain ha!) and I am feeling re-motivated to do aerial arts now, after really doubting myself and my ability to do it. You’re an inspiration and I hope our paths cross again!
All best,

What to look for when finding an aerial class

1. An experienced and qualified teacher

Deborah has over 20 years experience as an aerial performer. Of these she has been teaching for approximately 15 years.
She has taught extensively at Greentop Circus Centre in Sheffield where she was head tutor on the Circus in Performance course and show director for many years. She also has taught at:
Phoenix Dance
Skylight Circus
Level Up
Leeds Children’s Circus
Open Source Arts
National Centre for Circus Arts, (NCCA – formerly Circus Space).

Deborah is the only Leeds based aerial tutor to have a teaching qualification from NCCA.

2. Top quality aerial equipment

All Urban Angels Circus’s aerial equipment is of the highest quality, is certificated and regularly inspected and well maintained.

3. A clean, temperate studio

If a studio is too cold it is unpleasant and will have a negative affect your body. You are likely to ache after a session and much more prone to injury in a cold, drafty studio.

4. Think on this…

Check whether your tutor has adequate insurance. Urban Angels Circus has £10,000,000 of cover. Deborah is also first aid trained.

Do your classes provide information about what to expect and what is required? We do! You will arrive at your first class knowing what to bring and what to expect. We also provide a for Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (Par Que) to ensure that you are safe to learn.

Top Tip:

If an aerial teacher has only been learning aerial for a few months or even a couple of years they are not going to make effective, safe teachers. Ask!
